Whims

I want to go to the zoo. Right now, no planning, no scheduling and figuring and working out details in advance and trying to make it fit in between work and projects and events and other people not being available. I want to call my husband at work and have him come home, and maybe round up a few other people, and just go to the zoo.

I want to see how close I can get to the kangaroos as they wander around their roped-off enclosures, and I want to bounce up and down and make faces with the monkeys. I want to watch the tigers play smacky-face with each other, and see if the gorillas will come close to the window again so I can see how much bigger their hands are than mine. I want to go into the bird enclosure and stand incredibly still until I can find all the birds hiding in the trees. I want to go into the children's area and pet the goats and feed them pellets. I want to see a capybara.

Sometimes being a grownup is no fun.

Dang, if my paper were done, I could go to the zoo today.

Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo.

This is, of course, no use to you for today. However, did you know there's a Kangaroo Conservation Center in Dawsonville GA? We went there once - you see LOTS of kangaroos, and you do get to pet one (under fairly controlled conditions, they're protective of their kangaroos), and it's pretty damn neat. Come visit sometime, we'll take you to meet them!

Nobody told me that being grown up meant I couldn't do these things!

Heh. What she said. :)

Well, in this case, the problem is that the other people are grownups. Your husband, being a grownup, sits and stays at work in the face of the idea.

Not that he at all wants to stay at work - his workplace is nice but it doesn't compete well with gorillas and kangaroos...

... which is going to have him picturing his cubicle farm filled with zoo animals for the rest of the day. Or picturing his coworkers as gorillas and kangaroos, or something.

Well, you had been asking for decorating ideas...

I love the zoo. Haven't been in more than a year. We should go...
