Oh, dear. Granted that I have never made pasta, it definitely sounds as though the fault lies with the pasta-machine.
Also, I have never seen any cook on the Food Network make ravioli by cupping them in their hands; they always seem to press the dough down around the filling and then cut the ravioli apart with a knife or pizza cutter.
