Hee. I also decided that Mary Poppins was a powerful magical warrior sent to channel the awful dark forces attacking the family into more modest, more easily handled, problems. It made the books much richer in some ways. (I read them sometime in the past couple years.)

The Secret Garden is a fascinating book. Reading it for the first time in my 40s was perfect, and when I was 6 or 7, it would have been okay, but although I read children's books or a long time, I wouldn't have liked it in my teens/20s/30s.
