Ohhh, I like Lyoners (how I saw it spelled) and I had quite forgotten about it. Thank you for the brain nudge.

Correction - it was spelled "Lionors" (http://www.amazon.com/Lionors-Barbara-Ferry-Johnson/dp/0380004089/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1309642250&sr=1-1), and I fell in love with the story.
