Last time I checked (which was the last time we upgraded phones a couple of years ago), if you weren't using a data plan, you needed to pay a charge to use the mobile synch service. The link you provide says it is free, but it may still have a data charge associated (Sprint's been nice, but I wouldn't put that past them). I'll have to look into it.
