Seems unlikely. Why would they ponder that any more than we ponder our identity on the carnivore/omnivore/herbivore spectrum. Then again, we do that, don't we? Atkins, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, fructarian, etc. Religious diet restrictions and more. So, maybe.
Also, I'm not sure the gender/sexuality spectrum is that defining a trait. There are sexuality variations (at least) in a goodly number of other species. Harder to talk about gender, but I think there are examples, too. Then there are the species where sex can change through the life... think the discussions/concerns a sentient version of that species might have!
