A Quick Thought

I know that an outing is already being organized for tonight, but for those of you who aren't involved in that....

Does anybody want to catch a showing of 'The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra' at Kendall Square on Monday, 2/16? It's showing at 7:35.

I have my heart set on seeing this movie, and it's definitely a situation of The More, The Merrier - aside from the fact that it's going to be a marvelously ludicrous movie, I could use some good social-time right now.

Post or email, and let me know if you want to come along.

...but here's my problem.

It's going to be a bad movie. Fine. But there's a difference between a movie that's bad because it's bad and a movie that's *trying* to be bad. If it doesn't wink at the audience from time to time, we're doomed.

ps. Let me debate, I may still go see it with you guys

Dear lord -- have you seen the trailers? This doesn't wink at the audience: it pulls them in and tickles them mercilessly. The movie is an *extremely* deliberate satire of bad 1950's sci-fi movies, and looks like a bloody riot, at least if you know the genre that it's satirizing...

Actually, to save you the trip of being pulled through the screen, they sent cast and crew members to theatre to sit next to the audience and tickle them.

Actually, that's a bit of hyperbole, but they did introduce the movie and take questions. They said they'be be back at the evening showings on Saturday, but I don't know how long they'll do that.

If anyone is still uncertain, this movie is a riot! If they'd put all the funny bits in the trailer, it would have been almost as long as the movie. I'm still sore from laughing.
