Mixed Blessing

I love being a veterinarian - it's such a varied and diverse career. This is almost always a good thing. It means I don't get bored; it means I always have new and challenging cases presented to me; it means there's always something new to learn and accomplish, and fascinating articles to read, and new studies to keep up-to-date on.

Of course, it also means that there are days when I open the mail and find things like this week's professional journal, which happens to be the 'Maggots, Giant Spiders, and Parasites' issue.

Not the best bedside reading, to be certain....

I really enjoy reading your journal. But I have to say, I'm glad I don't have anything in my mailbox entitled "Maggots, Giant Spiders, and Parasites."

Yuck! You have a much stronger stomach than I do... but we already knew that. I don't think I could handle cutting animals open, even knowing it's for their own good. (I have a hard enough time just giving Scheherazade her arthritis pill.)

I'm pretty sure I had Giant Spiders in my mailbox once, but they were the actual 8-legged kind on not the on paper kind ;)

See, now that's the stuff that I am most fascinated by...
