She Cleans Up Pretty Nice.....

Thanks to everyone for your advice on the jewelry-and-formalwear question - I wound up having an extremely talented and helpful friend put together a necklace for me on the spot, and I think it worked quite nicely - definitely better than a bare neck would have been. Anyway, since y'all helped me figure the ensemble out, I thought you deserved to see what it looked like....

Wow! Gorgeous! <3 (: (You are so skinny. I am so jealous. (; )

wow. very very impressive.

but, the beadworker in me is curious - what's the necklace made of?

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be jealous - I'm learning that it has its downsides. I'm cold *all the time.* And it's almost impossible for me to shop in regular stores; they don't carry my size.

I think the world caters to the mythical medium-sized woman. I also think that there are perhaps three women in the world who are perfectly happy with their appearance. I'd love to be one of them.... :/

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a strand of tiny pearl beads with a strand of very thin silver chain wrapped around it, all tied on with the ends woven in. :)

*drool*

now I want a close-up picture :)

[identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Gorgeous. But, I'm not at all surprised. :)

[identity profile] braider.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I am now considering making a dress of that basic design for myself. That's *cool*!

[identity profile] divalion.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
DAMN! You look amazing! Not that you aren't normally gorgeous, but holy CRAP that whole ensemble looks incredible on you!

And I am gonna lust after that dress now...

[identity profile] pagawne.livejournal.com 2007-02-04 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You look almost as lovely as you did at your wedding.

The first picture looks good. The second picture looks *great*! I think it's the facial expression that makes the most difference.

[identity profile] new-man.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
wow.

*cough*. Um, wow. Really!

Indeed.

But then, I got to see it in person, and that trumps any picture ever taken, because I don't think she stopped smiling all evening.

[identity profile] wcg.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ahem... yeah...

I'd ask you to dance, were we in the same room.

[identity profile] leanne-opaskar.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not super-jealous. Just wish my stomach looked as nice as that. (; I actually have a hard time finding clothes, too. Size 12 Petite? Not too many of those. /:

I have noticed being colder too since I lost about 25 pounds over a couple of years. (: I'm not quite as thin as I was in college, but it's better than where I was.

I am mostly OK with my appearance but would like to eliminate a little of my belly fat. Ya know. (:

Whoa. Hubba freakin hubba.

I don't seem to have permission to see the pretty pictures! :(

The smile really helps... then again I always think of you as the snake in the slinky dress.

It's the elven blood.

"And it's almost impossible for me to shop in regular stores; they don't carry my size."

Try searching in stores that caters to Asian women?

Those pictures came out really nicely! The back shot's particularly good; in it, you're not only beautiful, but warm. (Plus your back does all sorts of cool curvy-line stuff - it's neat from a visual composition POV, too. :)

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've always wanted a dress with that cut, but I've never been brave enough to buy one that went *quite* that low in back before. Now that I have, though, I love it... :)

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
*blush* Thank you....

And the dress is from Lord & Taylor, which surprised the heck out of me. I always thought of them as the place where my grandmother shopped - I had no idea they had such gorgeous gowns.

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It's really hard for me to relax when I'm having my picture taken, which is why there are almost no pictures of me smiling. The second one only worked because Arnis surprised me and had the camera ready before I realized it...

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Weird - you and about half a dozen other people can't see them, and I can't figure out why. I've tried just about every fix I can think of (or, more specifically, my much-smarter husband has), and none of them have worked. I've emailed LJ-support, to see if they can figure it out.

[identity profile] riolobo.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Very much in the 'yummy' end of the spectrum

Magnificent!

And you were absolutely right to think that it needed some neck jewelry to keep in balance!

[identity profile] bardling.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Slender, elegant, graceful, gorgeous - you look stunning!

(At least when you smile, when you don't you look beautiful & slightly scary in a headteacher-about-to-tell-pupil-off way... ;)

[identity profile] umbran.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the pictures are set so that everyone on her friends list should be able to see them. MOst folks n her list apparently can - I don't know why you cannot.

I've entered an LJ support request, but it might help to know what browser you're using...

firefox 2.0 didn't work with ie 7 or ie 6 either

clearly i can see the protected entry so it isn't that i am not on teh list. how odd...

[identity profile] umbran.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, permission to see the images is set on the images, separately from whether you can see the post that contains them.

My leading theory is that there's a bug in the scrapbook, possibly relating to which server you're on. Maybe some bits of information are not being properly transferred between some servers.

[personal profile] tpau 2007-02-05 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm... possible. if i copy and paste teh address after goignto my scrapbook and logging in separatly i can see them. so i would gess that logged-in status isn't beign passed. sigh

[identity profile] dreda.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Beautiful. And particularly the back line of the dress suits you perfectly. May you have many fun opportunities to wear it!

[identity profile] meranthi.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
WOW! That's *gorgeous*!

[identity profile] jdulac.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
yowza!

[identity profile] flaviarassen.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good color for you!
Lots of people either don't know theirs
(or don't like theirs, or insist that
"black look goods on everyone"....).

[identity profile] gyzki.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That dress is gorgeous. Of course I used to be a librarian, and we're trained to judge a book by its contents, not its cover :-)

[identity profile] johnpalmer.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, the necklace helps, but good god, you'd have overcome it without any help! :-)

Permission granted?

[identity profile] peregrinning.livejournal.com 2007-02-05 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Home connection (Firefox), no permission to see pics.
Work connection (Explorer), exquisite pics.
There may be other factors, I don't know.

Having now caught up to this posting -- woof. That is *truly* faboo. (And I agree with the comments that the smile makes the second picture particularly shine.) Hopefully I'll get a chance to see it in person sometime...

[identity profile] chaiya.livejournal.com 2007-02-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Day-umn. That is an awfully nice dress on you. :)
