Much better now...

I't's amazing what a day off can do for one's morale. I'm still tired and headachey, but I can live with that. I'm starting, slowly, to feel like a functional human being again....

Yesterday was the perfect sort of mini-vacation that I needed, full of small triumphs. I didn't save the world or win the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, nothing dramatic happened - and that's just the way I wanted it.

I went for a lovely walk on a beautiful morning. I met a good friend for brunch, and cheerfully babbled about everything and nothing. I finally managed to make it to the cross-stitch store, and bought the beads I needed to finish my current project (Mirabilia's 'Waiting for Ships' - here's a picture for any other stitchers out there).

My snake ate on his own for the first time since I adopted him. This is actually a major victory, since it means that 1) I don't need to worry about him near as much as I was, and 2) I'll hopefully never have to force-feed him again. Very important, since force-feeding a snake is one of the least pleasant tasks I can think of.

Dinner, for the primates of the house, was the first harvest of our garden - mixed baby salad greens, which were darn near perfect, with tuna salad and homemade cornbread, with blueberry shortcake for dessert. Happy summer yumminess.

So. I'm rested, at least somewhat, and calmed, and ready to face work today. Life could be much worse.

Hmmm.....

A simple day off to recharge can really be a sanity saver, but it sounds like just as good would be to get some of the usual staff back to spread some of the work insanity around. You listed one doctor out on personal time, and another in TN - are they back yet, at least? I hope?

We've had three doctors out - one came back yesterday, and the other two will be back tomorrow, thank all the powers that be. Hopefully once we're back to almost-full staff, things will calm down....

Hi! I'm glad to read that things are looking up. I found your lj through [personal profile] browngirl and I thought I'd say hi... it was nice to meet you at our party a couple of weeks ago.
