We've now had 3 cats euthanised. In each case we were happy that the vets had done their best, and that it was the right time. A sensitive vet, whose prime criterion is "quality of life", and whose decision we could trust and were in agreement with was what WE needed, and we absolutely do not begrudge.
In one case, the cat was an old (19) friend to the practice and vet, and was known to all the staff by name - they were almost more upset than we were.
It's not easy, but it's important. Doing it right is a big part of closure.
