Irony is....

....looking up from pronouncing your fifth dead patient of the day, taking off your stethoscope, and hearing the clinic radio in the back room start playing 'I Will Survive.'

At least I've gone from crying to laughing now.....

You do a great job. Whenever I tell people about Daisy, I tell them how wonderful it was to have your help at the end.

You have such emotional strength. I could not do what you do. I could not be a doctor or nurse. I walk into a hospital especially an ER and if I'm not prepared I short circut.

I would have been down after patient 1 regardless of species, most likely due to the human companions grief but I get attached to animals quickly fast as well.

So thank you. Whether those 5 patients passed on in your attempts to keep them with us or whether you helped them with their transition - thank you for doing what I and many others I know simply don't have the emotional capacity to handle.

You eat Powdermilk Biscuits, don't you?

Ghod is indeed an iron.

I, too, suffer from gallows humor. Sometimes that is the only way you can get through it.

Thank You

I say this, because I'm sure people are in no shape to
thank you as you deserve. Just to remind you - it is a
blessing to us to be able to have our little furry babies
sent off as peacefully and painlessly as possible.

Thank you.

Would you have felt better hearing Queen's "Another one bites the dust"?

Hope tomorrow is better.

There are many animals out there who owe their good health to you, and I'm sure you eased a lot of suffering today. That doesn't make the way you feel any better. Treat yourself well tonight.

*HUUUUUUGS*

I could never do what you do. You're amazing. I mean it.

Either way, you get hugs.

We've now had 3 cats euthanised. In each case we were happy that the vets had done their best, and that it was the right time. A sensitive vet, whose prime criterion is "quality of life", and whose decision we could trust and were in agreement with was what WE needed, and we absolutely do not begrudge.

In one case, the cat was an old (19) friend to the practice and vet, and was known to all the staff by name - they were almost more upset than we were.

It's not easy, but it's important. Doing it right is a big part of closure.

The sun will come out tomorrow. Corny, but true.

Think of it as a direct message to you from the Universe. Yes, it's a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day, but you will survive. And tomorrow will be better.

Sorry you're theme for today is euthanasia, hopefully your next one will be outrageously cute kittens.

one of the (many) reasons I'm sorry we don't live closer to you is that I'd love to have you as our vet.
