I've had some pretty amazing costumes, but my favorite would have to be the one my mom made me when I was in third grade.

I had a copy of Gnomes (http://www.amazon.com/Gnomes-Wil-Huygen/dp/0810909650), and it was my favorite book. And that year my mother made me a gnome costume - long green skirt, fluffy blouse, pointy hat, braids down to my waist. Every detail was perfectly matched to the illustrations in the book, and I loved it....
