King Of The Lab!

Today I am Supervet! I have, in fact, kicked ass, taken names, and proven my diagnostic superpowers.

(For those vets reading this, I found a live Sarcoptes mite on a patient that came in for a second opinion on skin problems. For those non-vets reading this, that's rather like being called in to check out a wildlife complaint at the Playboy mansion and finding a live unicorn - technically possible, it *could* be the cause, there are rumors of people who've seen them, but they're darn hard to actually lay eyes on....)

I have earned my downtime, damnit. And maybe a cookie.

I'd give you a cookie! Especially since we had a vet visit today (actually Whitney, our Min Pin) to look at a growth she has had since we got her, has expanded in the last year, and we got good and better news.

Good news is that the growth is not attached to the muscle, better news is that they did the paperwork for us for Care Credit and we got it! (Last time we tried we were turned down.) She goes in next Tuesday for a lump removal and teeth cleaning.

Your profession rocks!

I'm so glad to hear that your pooch is getting the surgery she needs - fingers crossed that everything goes well, and that the lump turns out to be benign!

[identity profile] ladyqkat.livejournal.com 2011-04-09 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
The vet seemed fairly confident that it is benign as it is not attached to the muscle.

But I will keep you posted. She is going to be grumpy because we will have to withhold food and water until we take her in that morning.

Cool. Definitely a cookie. :)

We should totally bake cookies on Monday.

Cookies, or cake? Your call either way; I'm just happy messing around in the kitchen. And it's supposed to be pretty nice out, so we can walk down to Whole Foods to get any ingredients we need.....

I was thinking something like this, (http://www.marthastewart.com/281132/chocolate-bundt-cake) except with chocolate chips instead of walnuts, if that sounds good to you....

I can definitely get behind this project.

You deserve a treat

You most definitely rock AND deserve a treat. How about a cannoli instead of a cookie? You are even more awesome than spell check. Ok, good night. have a great weekend.

Absolutely a cookie. I suggest a snickerdoodle.

Sounds eminently cookie-worthy...

Did you get pictures?

Congrats!

So, what was the original diagnoses?

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2011-04-11 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
There was no original diagnosis - they were still looking for an answer....

You totally deserve downtime and a cookie. Mr. Mungo had sarcoptic mange (he seems to be recovered now), and the vet explained to us how very rare it was to actually find a mite from a skin-scrape. You rock!
