Grr.

Oh, Ticketmaster. You suck dead donkey through a straw backwards.

How is it that, for a show where tickets cost $20 each, it winds up costing me over $70 to buy two tickets? Because said tickets are only available through you, and you charge me $10 per ticket "purchasing fee," and a $5 "delivery fee," plus another $2.50 for the privilege of printing my own tickets out at home (as opposed to the $3+ for getting them mailed to me). And how do you justify the delivery fee when I'm printing out the damn things?

This is absurd. But it's also for charity and for Ben Folds, so I will do it. But I'm going to sulk and stomp my feet and generally rail ineffectually about the Unfairness Of It All.....

Also complain to the charity and concert promoters. As I see it, $40 went to the charity and concert, and $35 went to TicketMaster. For a charity event, that is a HUGE cut, and something the charity should be justifiably upset about.

Me, I'd write a nice letter to Ben Folds, with a donation to the charity enclosed, and skip the concert. And I'd tell Mr. Folds why.

It's an idea, but it requires that the concert not be a huge value in and of itself.

The delivery fee so you can print out tickets was kind of ridiculous.

TicketMaster define evil trading policy for me. When tickets are available from multiple merchants, I have seen them up to a third more expensive than elsewhere for the same tickets.

What really incenses me, though, is the way they use "fan presales" as a way of selling rubbish tickets to the fans, rather than giving the best access, which is what presales are supposed to be.

1) Yes, Ticketmaster is evil incarnate.
2) Hey, we're going to the show too! Wanna meet up for dinner beforehand? We're in section 107, row Q, how about you?

I don't know what section we're in - I finally lost my temper at Ticketmaster and begged [livejournal.com profile] umbran to buy the tickets. But we'd love to get together for dinner before - any ideas of what's good nearby?
