Meanwhile, Hospice

In the middle of everything else, I'm still, y'know, starting a practice.  Appointments have calmed down a little after the initial flurry, but that just means I have more time to keep up with continuing education and to write for my hospice blog.

In particular, my most recent thoughts are about aging in animals, and how a lot of problems that are attributed to aging are often treatable conditions - check it out, if you want....

Very well said. When my first cat was getting on in years I took her to the vet because something seemed wrong and he told me she was "just old." I took her to another vet and it turned out she was diabetic. We treated her for that and she lived another couple years before her kidneys failed. I am forever grateful (and loyal) to that second vet. And, no, I never went back to the first vet.

Lovely blog posts!

Question: would you like an LJ feed (named "autumnvet_blog" or something like that) for your blog, so that people here can follow it more easily? It's easy for me to set one up -- I just confirmed that your site provides the necessary data already -- and I'm inclined to do so for my own use anyway...

Actually, that would be wonderful - thank you!

as someone who's not very tech-savvy, what would I need to do for this? Or is it all magic and I just have to post to my blog and everything else is automatic? :)

Magic, pretty much. At least, I don't *think* you need to change anything.

Since AutumnVet is Wordpress-based, it automatically publishes what we call an "RSS feed" of everything you post there -- basically, a computer-readable version of your postings. And LJ has a paid-user feature for turning RSS feeds into pseudo-accounts in LJ. (LJ calls them "Syndicated Accounts".) So I just have to plug the two pieces together, and it should start to work automatically in a day or two.

I'll try it this afternoon...

Okay, it seems to be up and running as [livejournal.com profile] autumnvet_blog. With any luck, that should just pull your posts into LJ shortly after you write them. (I believe the theory is typically within a day...)

Awesome! Thank you so much!
