I know what you mean, about those dreams that are awful enough to haunt one's waking consciousness and turn a comfy bed into a torture chamber. I have them sometimes too. A friend of mine once said that it was hard to sleep because "with my eyes closed I can see everything".
I wish I had good advice for you; when my subconscious plagues me with a streak of horrid dreams one thing that helps me, oddly enough, is to put a favorite book under my pillow, so I can think about the good ideas from the book rather than the nasty ones from my dreams. But, often nothing helps, I just have to ride it out, fight the images away from the corners of my day vision. I've been there.
And I am here, a local call away, OK? Even at 3 in the morning.
