So, after getting home from work tonight, my sweetie and I decided not to head to Arisia until tomorrow. We wouldn't have a lot of time to spend there tonight, and the full-weekend pass is kind of expensive. We decided to rent a movie instead - a decent way to waste a little time and enjoy ouurselves in a low-cost, student budget kind of manner.

Of course, there's precious little in the video stores that's worth watching right now. After turning up our noses at fourteen Adam Sandler movies and a handful of stupid teenage sex comedies, we were left with 'Cats & Dogs' as the only even vaguely appealing option. I was dubious, but I figured it was worth the risk... if nothing else, there would be cute animals.

It's hilarious. Oh my goodness, it's silly, and I should probably be ashamed of myself for enjoying it so much, but I can't help it. Completely aside from the adorable Exotic Shorthair and the cute puppy, it's a genuinely funny movie. Predictable, slapstick, but for some reason it works. And the Evil Genius cat is marvelous.

Off to bed now, probably to dream about little evil kitty armies bent on world domination. Just the thing to put me in the mood for the con tomorrow....

Billy Elliot, yet? Also, I don't know if you get premium cable, but...Oh, FRACK. I just realized that I forgot to tape an encore presentation of a LOTR special on TV this afternoon. Oh, well.

Anyway, I saw part of an excellent movie with tapdancing, called "Boot Men". (Actually, I don't know that you like dance movies, just that you love to dance...)

Haven't seen 'Billy Elliot,' though I want to. Since I don't have a VCS or DVD player, my movie-viewing is limited to things my sweetie and/or his roommate also want to see...

I do adore dance movies, though, and I'll add 'Boot Men' to the list. It should make the aforementioned gents happy; maybe I'll be able to cut back on watching 'Center Stage' so often... :)

Do you have a TV right now? I've seen a DVD player sold at Circuit City for $80. (Yes, I know it's not exactly *no* money, but it is cheap, considering.)(But as I recall, you're weighted down with loan repayments...)

"Center Stage" -- oh, yeah! I love the finale. And I think that Ethan Stiefel is the most exciting male ballet dancer since Baryshnikov.

Really, the ninja cats are worth the price of admission.

It's a unsophisticated family comedy like the old Disney movies used to be, just with better special effects, and really, it doesn't pretend to be much more. Of course, my cat is now furious that his cohorts' plans have been uncovered and is vowing revenge...

Christopher Guest's "Dog Show" is a scream. If you ever spent ANY time around showdog people (and as a vet, you must have if only by chance), you will probably enjoy this histerical mock documentary. :)

I'll hae to add "Cats and Dogs" to my list of things to see.

'Dog Show?' Do you maybe mean 'Best In Show?' If you do, yes I've seen it, and it's absolutely hysterical. If not, that's something else to add to my list of must-see movies...
