"Sorry I couldn't make it to your party. Ended up riding up to Boston with a friend, and therefore were not able to drive over to the party (she already had evening plans). I would have called, but her toilet went 'splody Sat morning and threw off all my plans/etc. for the day, and by the time I remembered it was far too late to matter. I'm sorry I missed your party, and will ahve to make it up to you some time."
