Goodbye, 2004

So, 2004. It's been nice living in you. You had one or two really phenomenally good bits, and a whole lot of badness, and while I'm glad I've made it through, I can't say I'm overly sorry to see you go. On the whole, though, thank you for being here. I hope 2005 isn't intimidated by my hopes that it's better.
I've learned that planning a wedding is a hell of a lot of work.
I've learned that having a wedding is worth all of the work and frustration, every minute of it.
I've learned that, contrary to my own beliefs, I can be a wife.
I've learned that I was far more attatched to my last name than I ever would have imagined.
I've learned how to use a web-browser-editor program to make web pages.
I've learned how to treat Yellow Skin disease in bearded dragons.
I've learned how to speak on a panel, and survive, and even have fun.
I've learned that I have more wonderful friends in my life than I can count, and that they can fill a room and make a marvelous party in no time at all.
I've learned that family businesses are generally not the best places to work.
I've learned how to reconstruct a period recipe, and turn it into actual food.
I've learned how to perform a forelimb amputation.
I've learned that Disney World Cruises are even more fun when you're an adult.
I've learned that both my car and I can survive my first real car accident, and how to handle the ensuing insurance paperwork.
I've learned that having a complaint filed against my license isn't the end of the world, and that the licensing board generally actually does pay attention to reality and fairness.
I've learned how to play the doumbek.
I've learned how to make homemade pickles and tomato sauce.
I've learned how to waltz.
I've learned that getting married can consume an entire year, and overshadow almost anything and everything else in that time period.
More to be added as they occur to me....
