The blood disorder was Henoch-Schoenlein Purpura.

You too? I admit, I wasn't put in the terminal ward. The first hospital my parents took me to told us "We don't know what it is. Go home, give him aspirin. It'll work itself out.", so we went hospital hopping...

From what I've read, that wasn't too far off from what they'd have done if they did know what it was (modulo a bazillion tests to make sure there were no complications), but my mother did not take well to being told they didn't know and weren't interested in figuring it out...
