Almost There
Feb. 25th, 2004 06:55 amTwo more days left of my ten-day work week. Two more days, and then I can crash. I can take off the Responsibility Hat and sleep as much as I want. Maybe even as much as I need, though I think that might be asking too much.
It wouldn't be a challenge if it weren't for this goddamn cold. I am declaring the fever cured, by the expedient of not taking my temperature anymore, but my eyeballs still feel like overdone hard-boiled eggs. Of course, if it weren't a challenge, it wouldn't be worth doing, or so I tell myself.
Two more days. I've never prayed for it to be slow at work before, but I will today. Maybe I can hide in the coat closet with the office cat and take a nap. Better yet, maybe I can dress the office cat up in my lab coat and send him out to see appointments. He's cute with orange hair; noone should be able to notice any serious difference.....
It's not fair. I made it through the entire winter without getting sick, I shouldn't have to go through this now. I'm living on orange juice and tea, pleading intensely if silently to the gods who care about such things that this not turn into bronchitis, and thanking my lucky stars (and the gods who care) that I have an angel of a fiance who is getting over his own cold and is kind enough to pamper me while I'm home.
Two more days, then I can sleep. Two days. It's not that hard.
Guhhh.....
