ladysprite: (hello)
I was a good girl today. I mailed my tax return, balanced my check book, returned my overdue library books, and even managed to confront my least-favorite Girly Actvitiy, shoe-shopping (which, I have found, is made much more pleasant by the company of a good friend). So I decided this evening to reward myself.

Life has been hectic lately, and I've spent just about every night for the past two weeks either working past 10pm or going out and being actively social. And while it's nice to be busy and outgoing, even extroverts need a bit of occasional downtime to remember who we are and get re-acquainted with the shape of our own skin. So this evening my sweetie went out for an unexpected bout of socialization, and I promised myself a quiet night with my cats, a grilled-cheese sandwich and too much easter chocolate, and a trashy vampire novel. Calm. Relaxing. Self-focused.

Since he left, I have managed to walk to the grocery, tidy the kitchen, wash the dishes, put away my cookbooks, transcribe two chapters of the Italian book I'm translating, confirm my appointment to donate blood tomorrow, and knit another square for the pillow I'm making.

I think I've forgotten how to relax....
