New Outlook
Feb. 9th, 2005 09:11 amIt's amazing the difference an extra hour and a half of sleep can make in your perception of the world.
As much as I'm a morning person, and as much as I can get more done before noon than after on any day, six am is still far from my favorite time. Waking up that early just pulls a thin grey curtain of grumpiness over the rest of the day no matter what else happens, positive or negative.
I'm not happy right now about being told to come in to work an hour or two late due to a lack of appointments, but the practical result was being able to sleep in until 8am. This means an extra hour to stay up and actually spend time with my sweetie last night, and still wind up ahead on sleep this morning. Waking up at a realistic and decent hour, when the sun is up and the rest of the world isn't still semi-comatose, eating breakfast less than seven hours before lunch, and generally starting off the day on speaking terms with the universe instead of just grunting sullenly at each other.
Now if only I could stay here, playing online and petting my cat, instead of having to go outside and drive to work and face the rest of that friendly-but-still-damn-cold universe....
