And Then Work Devoured Her Whole
Jun. 9th, 2005 09:06 pmDeepest apologies to any loyal and adoring fans who may have feared that, after so long without writing anything here, perhaps I had died or been kidnapped by a cult of puppy-worshippers in need of a high priestess or transcended the material plane. Or, in the more likely reality, a quick wave hello to the vast majority of cyberland that likely didn't actually notice I was missing.
Apparently, when you leave the house at 7am to get to work, and get home past 10pm, there isn't a lot of time for checking email or writing journal entries, especially when you don't actually have internet access at work. Also, apparently there isn't much time for cooking or baking, maintaining a healthy diet, petting your cats, weeding the garden, or anything else conducive to sanity.
Apparently, I didn't think about this when I was putting together my June schedule.
Luckily, the world outside my body seems to be getting along fairly well without me. The garden was planted in May, and seems to be doing quite well aside from too many weeds, the loss of a few bean seeds that can be quickly replaced, and a mild shortage of eggplant seedlings that I hope to repair at Home Depot tomorrow. My cats honestly wouldn't notice my absence unless they didn't get fed, and the dishes don't care if they get washed at midnight instead of 7pm.
I, on the other hand, am learning to despise fast food, fretting needlessly about gaining weight just in time for itty bitty summer clothes season, going through moderate net-withdrawal, and after a week at one of the more high-volume practices I've filled in at, remembering why I don't work in that sort of place full-time anymore.
Overall, though, it's all good. I've got the day off tomorrow, too. I just have to run to the garden store, get some more seeds and seedlings, plant them, weed the garden, run to the bank and the library and the grocery, put together supplies for this weekend's event, make dinner, bake something dessert-y, sew with a friend, finish my quarterly taxes, wash the dishes, put away laundry, practice Indian dance stuff, and figure out a period replacement for maple syrup to go on top of pancakes.
Amazingly, that sounds like a pretty relaxing day.....
