Jun. 21st, 2006 03:40 pmAt the clinic where I'm working today, we're trying to figure out whether veterinary prescription medications are taxable in this state - someone brought up the question, and we realized that noone here knew the answer. Since then, we've been avidly searching through mazes of government documents trying to find out.
We have found absolutely nothing relevant. We have found out the taxable status of almost every other substance known to man, from the practical to the ridiculous, but nothing on veterinary products. It seems our government is more focused on more widely applicable materials than catering to the niche market of pet owners.
Therefore, I am conducting a poll to find out just how tiny the market for veterinary drugs is, compared to the other products that the government provides taxation information for:
[Poll #753109]
Your tax dollars at work, determining the taxable status of diaper liners (tax-exempt) and liquid nutrition drink (also exempt) versus dictionaries (taxable) and cast saw blades (taxable - but the cast itself is tax-exempt).
