Buried, But Not Dead
Sep. 29th, 2007 04:29 pmMoving is not fun.
Owning a house is fun. Having moved is fun. Even unpacking, to a lesser extent, is fun. Stressy and frustrating, but fun all the same.
Moving is intimidating, and confusing, and overwhelming. Luckily, we have incredible, dedicated, patient, caring friends who can and will help us through this life event - and to everyone who showed up and pitched in, I can't thank you enough.
Right now, though, I am utterly buried by life. More specifically, I'm cut off from the outside world due to a lack of internet access - despite promises that Comcast would be able to get us cable and internet access in 3 to 5 days, when we actually tried to schedule installation it seems the earliest they'll be able to get to us is October 4th. Between that and the fact that we didn't have a telephone at the new house until yesterday, I've been feeling a bit isolated.
I'm managing to poach a few minutes online here and there (at a friend's house right now, f'rinstance), but don't count on me being reachable by anything other than cell phone for the next week or so. On the other hand, the lack of distractions does mean that unpacking is moving ahead at a decent pace - the kitchen is set up, the guest bedroom is fairly organized, and the master bedroom is cluttered but liveable.
Meanwhile, I need to find something to do this afternoon - if I spend another day unpacking, I'm going to go mad. Unfortunately, there are no movies worth seeing right now. Maybe I'll wander aimlessly around Harvard Square for a while....
