As I mentioned here, I am auctioning off a commissioned song written by Tom Smith to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure.

Base price for a song like this is usually $349. Current bid is $110 - if you bid earlier than that, you might want to go back and check, and re-bid. If you haven't bid yet, now would be a good time.

I'll be accepting bids through Tuesday, and will announce the winner on Wednesday. If you have any questions, let me know. If you want to bid, please do so in the original post.

Thanks!

Blessed

I'm supposed to be at a weekend-long house party right now. It was a little intimidating - I don't know too many of the people there, and it's one of the few occasions where my fella and I are introduced as [livejournal.com profile] umbran and his wife, instead of [livejournal.com profile] ladysprite and her husband, but I was looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, about halfway through lunch, I got a phone call that a friend's husband was in the hospital, and could I help, and she needs someone to take care of the kids and she doesn't know what to do....

She told me I didn't have to come today, but... she's a friend. So husband and I made our apologies to our hosts, and a half hour later I was home. Now I've got a bag packed with spaghetti sauce and meatballs, a box of pasta, and a loaf of garlic bread. There's a blueberry upside down cake in the oven, and in half an hour I'll be on the road to her place, to take over coping for her.

She's a friend. It's what you do for friends.

And as I was driving home, it made me think. First of all, that I am grateful beyond belief that my husband is strong and healthy. Sometimes I get so caught up in worrying about our challenges that I forget about all the positive aspects of our life.

Mostly, though, it made me think about what I would do in the same situation - who I could call in an emergency, if I was falling apart and needed someone to hold me together for a little while, or just to help keep life running. Who would put whatever they were doing down, and not ask questions, and be there. And the list of people I have in my life who could and would do that for me is nothing short of amazing.

In the past few days alone I've had it brought home to me just how wonderful some of my friends are. This only made it that much clearer. I don't know quite how I got this lucky, but I am sure as heck incredibly grateful.

Thanks, you guys.....
