There are so many things to love about where I live, both in general and in particular.

I love my little house, with its big open windows and shining-until-they-glow wood floors and open kitchen, and I love what little yard I have. But most of all, I love living in a city with some semblance of history - as much as we can get in the USA, at least - and some tourist appeal.

One of the most fun things about having houseguests, for me, is the opportunity to show off Boston and its surrounding cities. The only downside is that there are so many things to see and do that there's no way to hit them all in just one or two days.

This can lead to a kind of Tourist Attention Deficit Disorder, as we scamper back and forth across town trying to figure out what we want to see and do, bouncing between the Public Gardens and Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail, setting out for one destination and getting sidetracked by 300-year-old churches and cute bike taxi drivers and swans and utterly perfect weather and astrolabes and tombstones and more fascinating and shiny things than I could list here.

On the other hand, agendas aside, that still makes for an utterly awesome day....
