The Beginning
Oct. 28th, 2011 12:57 pmGoodbye, pleasantly cool fall weather; I was not ready for you to be gone yet.
Goodbye, warmth and comfort, goodbye to being able to feel my fingers, goodbye to standing up straight and feeling safe and to waking up and getting out of bed without arguing myself into it every morning. Goodbye to voluntarily spending any time outside.
Hello, cracked skin and hunching and never feeling quite safe or comfortable, to huddling up to run from my car to the office, and to long underwear. Hello, indoors and afghans and sweaters.
At least I got one last good walk in before the weather turned miserable. And at least I have heat and sweaters at home. And soon there will be soup and chili and baking. And cuddling to keep warm is a much more appealing prospect.
Still, that's not quite enough to occasionally make me wish I lived in Hawaii....
