Sulky And Shameless

I'm a good person, right?

I make the world a better place. I save lives. I fix tiny, tiny puppies and little fluffy kittens. And bunnies, too. Can't forget the bunnies.

So..... the world owes me happiness, right?

And, given that I am not happy right now, and the ephemeral things that I need in order to be happy right now aren't particularly forthcoming, the world and fate owe me material happiness. Right?

To be specific, the world owes me a Brute Force Leather Victorian Underbust corset. Size 20".

It makes sense to me.

Actually, I'm even of the rather arrogant opinion that this might just give the world a chance to make at least a few people rather happy. And my husband deserves some cheering up right now, too.....

While I'm at it, I think the world owes me a new pet snake, a full night's sleep, and some peace of mind, but I'm not holding my breath.....

I'll be more specific: The world owes us you in a Brute Force Leather Victorian Underbust corset, Size 20". ;)

You said exactly what I was thinking!

[identity profile] autographedcat.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Alas, had I but $300...

[identity profile] wcg.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Y'know, I bet you have enough friends who'd be willing to donate to a corset fund via PayPal...

[identity profile] surakofb5.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Size 20"? Have I mentioned I would kill to be that skinny?

You definitely deserve to have that corset. I know mine certainly cheered me up. :)

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Just for the record, I don't actually have a 20" waist. That's just the size they recommended, based on my real-life, not-nearly-as-tiny measurements.

Though if they can lace me down to 20" I will sing their praises in perpetuity.....

[identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Neither of you need to be any skinnier, and trust the discerning male eye: You're both juuuuust fine. In fact, here -- have a sandwich. We worry.

I think you just wrote what I was thinking.

Indeed. What [livejournal.com profile] filkertom said. You are the perfect shape for you. (Perhaps a bit more muscle would not go amiss, but only if it were the sort that helps you avoid future manglement of your knees.)

[identity profile] surakofb5.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
My corset is either 24" or 26", which is smaller than my actual waist, so I'm still bigger. I'm just frustrated because I'm having problems maintaining my weight right now.

You might not get laced down quite to 20", but it will still do wonders...

[identity profile] ayalanya.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
argh, the post ate my comment.

summary: i agree that the world owes you - and us - a corset for you. but my housemate ([livejournal.com profile] mrpet) does custom-made corsets, and if the world owes you a corset, doesn't it owe you a custom-made corset?

[identity profile] ladysprite.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly? Most of the custom corset-makers I've seen and known seem breast-obsessed. And I don't need a corset to push up my nonexistent breasts; that just doesn't work. I've tried it, and it's painful, and it's doomed to failure.

However, a waist-cincher might just work wonders.

Also, there are other reasons that I can go into elsewhere.

[identity profile] ayalanya.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
my housemate isn't so much breast-obsessed. he made my underbust with no attempt at talking me into an overbust, and ...let's see, he has a site. http://www.curiouscouture.com/ - the overbusts i've seen that he made weren't really pushing up sorts of corsets.

[identity profile] ayalanya.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
(the wonder-woman corset isn't the best example - it wasn't quite large enough for her breasts, so there was a bit of push-up effect anyway. that was a much earlier one, though)

Corsets, even vicotrian ones are not that hard to build...

[identity profile] redfishie.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to agree....have a friend or local person make you one.

... what they said

[identity profile] crash-mccormick.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I must agree. Getting you into that corset is a public service. I'll contribute to the fund to buy or build so you can wear it at Intercon.

Heck come down to NY to model for me and I'll buy it for you outright.

[identity profile] new-man.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Too bad you'll be at Brassy's instead of The Great Boston Burlesque Expo... Brute Force is one of our vendors.

[identity profile] evcelt.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You are very right. The fate of the free world may depend on you getting a Brute Force Leather Victorian Underbust corset, Size 20"... and wearing it as part of your outfit when I'm present. ;-)

[identity profile] johnpalmer.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
They had this skit on late night TV. Maybe it was SNL, maybe not.

This guy wanted a wife, and the "Wizard" said "no one can find you the true love and companionship that one needs in a wife...

"But here's twenty bucks and a phone number to get you started."

And while I agree that the universe does not precisely owe you happiness, and while I think that the true way is to find and remove the barries that hold us back from true happiness, right now, I think that's way too difficult and the universe should just get off its ass and get you the corset.

(Does the universe have an ass? Can it *get off* it's ass? And does the universe fart out of its ass after eating a nasty bean burrito? Would we know? And does the All You Can Eat Bean Burrito place have an exception for if the universe should pop in for a few?
