I think it is safe to share one story from closing on my house - wouldn't want to have done this before you went through it. You'd be amazed at how scary the simple question "Where did that check go?" is when it is referring to the cashier's check for a 20% downpayment plus closing costs on your first home. The biggest check I have ever written, and the person handling the closing could not find it immediately!!!! Fortunately, it was just under some other papers, and found quite quickly. It just *seemed* like forever to me...
