Today it's incredibly easy to think of something that made me happy. If anything, the hard part is limiting myself to just one thing - there's a corner of my mind that wants to save up all the little good pieces and parcel them out later in the week, when I'm tired and worried about not having enough work and feeling unproductive.

(And there's another part of me that still wants to linger on yesterday's happiness, too - going to a party with lots of good friends, celebrating another friend's birthday, managing to overcome any lingering social anxiety thanks to the company of patient people willing to talk to me, and being told that I looked darn good in my party clothes - all credit to [livejournal.com profile] new_man on that score. But that was yesterday.)

Anyway. Dim Sum today was wonderful, and a hundred thanks to everyone who came and helped me celebrate. I love watching the different social circles I play in overlap, and introducing new people, and finding out who already knows who. I love the conversations that build, and the positive charge I get from being surrounded by friends. The food was good, but it was secondary to the company - and I have enough good feelings stored up now to get me through a whole lot of dark, cold days.

Part of me wishes that I could have spent more time being social, but circumstances and headaches prevented that, and so I'm home now, surrounded by cats, in a house that now smells like coconut and oranges instead of almonds and cranberries. (Have I mentioned that I love holiday baking season?) Tomorrow's another errand-running day - I'm trying to take advantage of the slow-work season to get as many chores done as possible.

The more I think about this meme, the more I like it. I'm finding myself looking forward to each upcoming day, wondering what I'll find in it to make me happy. That's a much more pleasant outlook than I tend to have, and one I really ought to try to keep....

Happy happy!

I just looked at my friends' b-day list and realise that you have the same bday as my dad. Awesome sauce.

Have a great day! Happy happy!

On the happiness note, are you going to be at Arisia? There looks to be strong likelihood that I'll actually make it this year, and would be awesome to see you again!

Sweetie, when I think about your weekend-long graduation party in Ohio (HOW many years ago was that?), I'm still impressed with how good you are at introducing people. That weekend still makes me smile. :-)

You're welcome. Since you don't wear the party clothes around me, take some pictures next time. Yes, I know it's an issue for you. Deal ;-)

The more I think about this meme, the more I like it.

Hear, hear. I may well keep this one up beyond the statutory eight days, simply because it makes me look for things in my life to be happy about, and that's a good habit to be in...
