Cats are marvelous, wonderful creatures. Especially at 4:30 am, when you haven't been able to fall asleep yet, and you have to be up for work at quarter past six, and they flop down on your foot emitting their mysterious Kitty Nap Aura and finally allowing you to get the minimum necessary sleep to survive the next day. Even if they then balance this by deciding at 6:00 am that they have a personal vendetta against the pull-chain on the lamp above the bed...
So. I spent most of the last week visiting with my mom and little sister, which was a welcome change of pace. I helped my mother with some much-needed purging of cabinets and basement (I can understand being a packrat, but... half-used bottles of soap bubbles from 1979? That's a bit much). I came home with many kitchen gizmos, including, joy of joys, an ice cream maker. I got hooked on a new game. (It's all
cadhla's fault - if she hadn't mentioned DDR in her journal, I wouldn't have gotten curious, and I wouldn't have found out that my sister is apparently a master of the game, and I wouldn't have made her teach me how to play, and I wouldn't be the sudden hopeless junkie I am now....)
And now I am home, and now I must go to work. Give me the strength to stay conscious and self-aware for the rest of the day; it's been way too long since I had to function on two hours of sleep....
