If people wanted to read surgery descriptions, they'd go to a textbook, not Herriot... or you. I think it says something about your writing that your entry on that story was more than 5 years ago, and I felt that smile creep back on my face almost instantly with the reference. You're humane and articulate, and that's what brings the smile.
