Okay. In continuing the desperate attempt at mood reboot..... I desperately need to get out dancing. I haven't danced in far, far, far too long, and I need to get out of the house and into someplace dark and loud and full of people and music and a dance floor, and turn off my brain and just move until my feet are bleeding and I no longer want to lie down and stop breathing.

Unfortunately, Xmortis has been doing a master-class job of scheduling opposite events I can't afford. So to anyone else even vaguely local, or with better google-fu than me, do you have any idea of any decent dance opportunities in the greater Boston area? I'm not that picky, though I'd rather avoid country and top 40. Anyone who finds a decent 80's night.... I will owe you my life, and pay you in any way you see fit.

I'll be at Klockwerq" on March 3 (and you should all be there too - [livejournal.com profile] pixel, [livejournal.com profile] auntiemame67, I'm especially looking at you), but I need something sooner if at all humanly possible.... not to mention folks to come with me, if anyone's interested.

Oh an 80s night. HA. I've recently started a Pandora station dedicated to those tunes.

Just with some quick Googling, Common Ground (http://www.commongroundbarandgrill.com/band_listing.html) has an 80's night on Thursdays, there's Heroes (http://www.myspace.com/heroes80s) 80's New Wave at TT the Bears (http://www.ttthebears.com/) every other Saturday, and every Saturday at 6B Lounge in Govt Center/Beacon Hill is an 80s night (http://6blounge.com/80s_music_night.html). It also sounds (http://www.yelp.com/biz/phoenix-landing-cambridge) like Phoenix Landing (http://www.myspace.com/phoenixlanding) has a mix of 80s + Top 40 dance tunes on Friday nights.

However, looking at a recent thread (http://www.yelp.com/topic/somerville-any-good-60s-or-80s-dance-nights-around-somerville-cambridge-boston) on Yelp!, 6B doesn't have much of a dance floor.

But there's some to start with.

We will try to make it, but it's hard to get Pixel to go to a dance. But since you're asking, it's more likely he'll go! :) And if you found a decent 80's night (or 70's, I adore funk guitar), especially on a weekend, I would be very, very tempted.

Miss you, hon.

how about a different 80s?

Every Sunday, Barrymore's in Ottawa has a retro-80s night. Good sized dance floor, with a 2nd dance floor up on the stage (it is an old theater) for when the main one gets crowded.

Oh, and Babylon -- less than a block away -- does a "mod" night on Sunday's. Not really just mod, but lots of British music from the 60s through 90s or so. Also a decent dance floor.

Oh, right. Boston. Good luck.

Hr. Booty Vortex played Johnny D's last week. Tonight they have a soul/funk group called... Chicken Slacks? They claim to be the danceable kind of soul/funk.

Is tomorrow soon enough?

Rumor has it that tomorrow night is '80s night -- Heroes -- at TT the Bear's. Rumor has it that people we know will be there.
