Tasty/Messy

What is it about ice cream bars that, when you eat one, makes you (and by 'you' I mean 'me') revert to five years old? No matter how hard I try to be delicate and ladylike, I always wind up slurping and laughing and with my hands covered in melted chocolate and ice cream residue, looking like a small child set free in a candy store....

In related news, it is impossible to mindfully eat a Klondike bar. Any attempt to wallow in the deliciousness and prolong the enjoyment are ultimately foiled by the beautifully transient nature of the frozen chocolate coating and the sticky melting ice cream as it slips (literally) between your fingers en route to your mouth.

Trust me on this....

Yeah, I hate Klondike bars - not enough chocolate
& what's there melts almost instantaneously.

Ah. I love them, but then again I'm a firm believer in the idea that the messier food is, the better it's likely to taste. :) Part of the fun of Klondike bars is trying to hold them by the wrapper so my body heat doesn't melt the chocolate, and biting just so it doesn't shatter, and the race to eat it slowly enough to taste but quickly enough that it doesn't turn into a puddle....

I wouldn't know. I haven't had chocolate in over a decade now.

Plus, I'm the model of culinary decorum and cleanliness.

I usually eat Klondike bars with a bowl and spoon. Then, of course, to fully enjoy the childlike experience, I feel obliged to pour the bowl over my head.

It's easier to eat slowly in January, while wrapped in a quilt. It might be more fun your way. :-)
