You might want to look at me and my life while you're considering what to do with yours. There are some differences, of course, but we're both childfree and fannish, my hair is long (not as long as yours, but long enough to get some of that "inappropriate" bullshit), and I tend to hang out with people who are 15-25 years younger than I am -- not exclusively, and not because I go looking for them specifically, but because those are the people who tend to share my interests. I've developed my own style of dress, more-or-less using the "eccentric artist" model; it lets me look different without getting into the area of "mutton dressed as lamb", which I fear most Goth stuff would be at this point. :-) In a lot of ways, my mental self-image is still about the age you are now, and that's working very well for me.
There's a difference between becoming a grownup and turning into a grup, and it is possible to do the first without doing the second. I think you're fairly well along the way already; you just haven't realized it yet.
