It sounds like the artist is really cool- that sort of response/interaction from/with him is a Good Sign.
That sort of anxiety is normal... just remember that you will get a chance to look over the final design both when it is on the transfer paper and when it's been transferred onto your skin, so there are a couple of points where any needed tweaks can be made.
