I will confess to growing up upper middle Class in NYC which would be rich in the other 99+% of the world but which just allowed reasonable pace and reasonable education and access to enough books. Things which I view as basic human rights --probably explaining why people consider me liberal even in my fiscally conservative stage. It helps in part that my dad was the usual by his bootstraps sort of story of first generation born in America and having work through the depression was ... Conscious of the value of money but also of the obligation of the fortunate to help the less fortunate.
