I'm glad things are getting better... but I definitely sympathize with the frustration of slow recoveries.
And, oh, yeah, it's frustrating to have someone damage your car under any circumstances, even if you're flooded with money and would kind of like to have to go car shopping.
There is one caution I appreciated from a friend - sometimes, you need to settle on a car, but always remember that, unless you really, truly have no choice at all, try to buy a car you're happy with, even if it's a little bit scary about how you'll afford it. (Not a lot scary - just a little.) Because in the end, you'll be using that car maybe every single day, and you don't want to have it be a symbol of how awful life treated you... you want it to be *your car*. Maybe not as nice as you'd like, sure, but *your car*. I appreciated that, because I was trying to squeeze myself into what I really needed, without regard for what I wanted.
