Okay... Arisia is only a week or so away. Time for my favorite personal dillema -

What should I wear to the dance?

So many clothes, so few opportunities to wear them. I could just stick with my favorite, the green velvet Morticia-style dress, with the lacings to the waist, and the skirt that's tight to the knees and then flares out... but it's a nuisance to dance in, it keeps me from moving really easily.

Or I could wear the red velvet dress, the one with the criss-cross back and the lovely flared skirt. Or the blue one, with the slit to the hip and the sequined bodice... but that one is long enough that the heels of my shoes sometimes get caught in the skirt.

I could just be basic and gothy and wear the black velvet mini-dress, with or without corset. That would let me wear my thigh boots, but it raises the unanswerable question of fishnets versus stockings and garters. Ooh! Or there is that leather miniskirt I found last year, that could go with the boots too, and red bra/white lace bodice that would avoid the all-black pitfall...

I could wear the red and white combo with my black velvet hip-hugger jeans, too. Or the backless black fringy tank-top, with the jeans... or with my black lace skirt.

Oh, and I can't forget the new dress I got this summer - silver, backless and beautifully shimmery, with a lovely swirly skirt. I bet that could work nicely, too. Or, as long as I'm considering the jeans, I could pair them with the chainmail bikini top and long cut-velvet frock coat...

Oh me, oh my, however am I to make up my mind? Suggestions?

Gosh, it's fun to be an utter shallow flake sometimes... :)

If I had to choose among all those, I'd vote for the red velvet. It sounds like it'll look great on you, and allow you to dance freely.

My goodness, so many delightful choices.

I'd skip the jeans/chainmail bikini/frock coat though. It just seems that it would be too hot to dance in and you'd need to remove the coat, and as I won't be there to appreciate it, it's entirely out of the question.

The basic goth short skirt, boots and garters sounds delectable, but as it won't be a goth dance, the shimmery dress might even be the best choice.

Dammit, the ALL sound too good.

Ahh, but you see, her sweetie will be there to appreciate it. Unfortunately, he is also of the opinion that they'd all be lovely.

Best bet would be to narrow the field a bit by putting aside anything that might be less appropriate for dancing. Then model the rest for said sweetie, and see if he can help you choose. He'll probably be utterly useless, but will find it enjoyable... :)

Heh.

The thing is, of course, as The Sweetie, you get to see her all the time in whatever outfit she decided to model ;)

(My suggested correction to the above -- have her model the least appropriate ones for you, too)

Well, I can tell you that the Imperial Ballroom (where the dance is) tends to be overheated but that the balcony outside tends to be cold. So something that allows you to be cool enough while dancing and then throw on a jacket or wrap afterwards would be good. Probably elbow-length sleeves or shorter.

Personally, I like the idea of the black mini-dress with thigh-high boots and fishnets. Maybe with your LED necklace, if the neckline works.

Alas and alack, I no longer have the LED necklace - that was a one-night loan. Otherwise, I'd leap on that idea in a heartbeat.

Considering all the suggestions so far, I think either the red or silver dress would make the most sense. I have a white shawl that would work with either if I get chilly. Though, of course, I'll have to follow my sweetie's suggestion and try them all on for him first... :)

I don't suppose you'd be willing to invite more friends to this modeling session, would you? ;)

Considering that you'd look stunning in a burlap sack, dear...

The jeans and frock coat sounds adorable. Send pictures.

Love,
