Wow. I must have been really boring lately - there's been a veritable flood of people unfriending me. Waah....

Unfortunately, what I'm about to do isn't going to help that at all. I'll be heading out this afternoon for the International Conference on Exotics, and I won't be back until either very late Saturday or very early Sunday, depending on whether my plane is on time. So think fondly of me for the next few days, as I sit in sunny, beautiful Florida, cooped up in a tiny windowless hotel function space listening to lectures on frog surgery.

Honestly, I've been looking forward to this conference for years, so I really can't gripe, but I will be going through serious lj-withdrawal. I wish I had a stunningly clever and witty image to leave you with, but my mind is too full of double-checking my packing and fretting about schedules to think of something like that, so I'll just send a whole bunch of virtual hugs to anyone who wants them, and see you in a little while when I'm back....

Well, you can always friend me, to make up for the folks who are dropping out. I've been reading your journal for the last few months and I've been enjoying it very much. Your dedication to animals really touches me.

International Conference on Exotics,

That sounds amazingly cool! even if it does involve being cooped up in small windowless rooms listening to lectures on frog surgery.

I don't think you're boring, by any means, and if I ever drop you from my friends list it will be because I meant to check the box just above or just below yours but got confused.

I knew that there had to be vets who could do frog surgery, but not enough to have a whole conference devoted to it.

It may well be your immoral imperative to get everyone humming "It's not easy being green," thoughout the conference. Maybe you can even start a sing-a-long.

Here's hoping your patients don't croak...

Hurm. The brief program doesn't suggest any lectures on ocelots to go up against frog surgery. :-)

Have fun.

The unfrienders must either be overloaded or have no taste. Have a great time! My world needs more exotic vets. (At least as long as Niles is classified as exotic - he seems pretty mundane to me.)

I didn't know you could surgery on a frog. The things I learn from your LJ!

Hey, I know someone who's going to the ICE - Tim Miller-Morgan, our program's aquatic ornamentals specialist (http://seagrant.oregonstate.edu/extension/miller-morgan.html) (a.k.a. "the fish doc.") How cool is that?

Um, not to spill any beans, but I hope someone will be checking your mail while you're gone ...

If you refer to something that might have been sent by some "anonymous weirdo", then it arrived as I was taking the Lady to the airport. It is safe and sound.

Oh, the image of you sitting in a lecture hall with wide eyes and bated breath, hanging rapturously on the every word of some Authority on amphibious dissection - that's picture aplenty. Have a wonderful time, and we'll still be here when you return. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
