Yeah, stuff happened. It was the weekend, it was the con, it snowed a lot. More about that later.

I have just recieved an update from Penzey's Spices on the status of the Boston-area store. On the one hand, it likely won't be open until May or June. On the other hand, they have a location now.

I was assuming that they'd wind up on Newbury Street, or somewhere actually in Boston proper. It's a big area, full of other high-end specialty stores, and it's of equal inconvenience to just about everyone. Not actively impossible to get to, but significantly unfriendly to cars, and requiring at least one subway ride, with possibly a bus or two added into the journey. Nope.

They'll be on Mass Ave in Arlington. Beautiful, happy, friendly, marvelous, ten-minutes-from-my-house-at-rush-hour Arlington. Arlington with the amazing cross-stitch shop right on the same street. If they moved Lush Cosmetics there, I would consider that stretch of street my own personal mecca.

The down side of this is that, if I'm not careful, I am likely to spend a significant portion of my waking hours and the majority of my paycheck there. On the other hand, it gives me an excuse to invite people over for dinner. And dessert, and brunch, and afternoon snacks, and potlucks.....

Penzey's Spices. In Arlington. God loves me.

Elizabeth agrees that it's dangerous. And we're very envious.

Having a Penzey's store so close is going to be dangerous. I would have hoped for a T accessible location, myself, though.

Yeah, and I might do that sometime. The truth is, though, that busses seem less real to me as public transit than light rail. You never know where they might turn. :) If I'm going out to the burbs, and there's parking, I'm more likely to drive.

The letter they sent says that the location does, in fact, have parking :)

Oh, sure. Encourage the temptation. :)

Hmm...

I don't suppose they mentioned whether it's closer to Arlington Heights or Arlington Center?

(The 80 goes up to Arlington Center, you see...)

The letter says 1293 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02474. I think that puts it closer to Arlington Heights than Arlington Center.

Arlington is a very good spot, and Mass Ave isn't too confusing.
