I've lived in a handful of places over the course of my life. I grew up in New Jersey, I lived in Ohio for a handful of years, and I've visited plenty of other cities and states. But none of them feel like *my* city. Boston is my heart's home, and I've known that since the first time I came to live here.

I love everything about this area. I love the bustle and the busy-ness, and the opportunities for people-watching. I love being just a hop, skip, and a jump away from public transportation that can take me almost anywhere.

I love being able to take an unexpectedly free Sunday afternoon and go down to Boston Commons and stretch myself out on the grass and listen to the music - on any free weekend, there's almost certainly a free concert, party, rally, or play there, and even if there isn't, there are buskers to listen to. Not just guitarists, either - in three hours this past weekend, I heard a saxophone duet, a bagpiper, a cellist, two accordion players, a violinist, and a folk band. I love the color and brightness and variety of the flowers in the public garden, and being able to watch the gawky, half-fledged goslings splash around the water.

I love the fact that the green and the city exist right next to each other, and that I can walk from one to the other - and the fact that the city is still old in its way. I love walking down Newbury Street, and knowing that in between the overpriced clothing boutiques and cafes, little shops like Tealuxe and The Fairy Store still exist.

I know that it's making our househunt long and complicated and difficult, but I could never live too far away from this.....
