I have just finished watching the Tony Awards. I wish I could make deep, meaningful observations about the role of theatre in our culture, and the art and drama of Broadway, and stuff like that, but once again I am left just staring at Hugh Jackman like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming truck, wondering how any man can manage to look heterosexual and attractive while singing and dancing to a medley that includes 'Don't Rain On My Parade,' 'Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat,' 'Shake Your Bootie,' and 'I Feel Pretty.'
Okay, that wasn't my only thought upon seeing the Awards. I have also decided that maybe I do want to see 'Spamalot' after all. If nothing else, Tim Curry looks like he's having far too much fun....
