Why do all of the new decent SF television shows need to suddenly manifest at once?

I don't have time to add another three or four shows to my television rotation. Completely aside from the fact that I pride myself on not being a tv junkie (in spite of my strong attatchment to Veronica Mars and Battlestar Galactica), I do not need any more encouragement at this point to sit at home and avoid being social.

But.... apparently SF is hip and trendy again. And 'Threshhold,' while falling prey to Bad Science Syndrome, is darn spooky and intriguing, and the characters have already charmed me. And there's another new show that's apparently all about urban legends, that so far has quite failed to suck. 'Bones' has earned my loyalty so far by giving David Boreanaz another chance at witty banter. And there are at least two more that I'm doing my best to ignore in hopes that I don't pick up yet another must-watch obsession.

It's sad that I'm actually hoping for some of these shows to tank and burn, just so I don't have to choose between missing something interesting and missing out on doing-stuff time. Why couldn't they portion out good shows one or two per year, instead of clumping them all in a big, messy pile like this?

You could always shell out for TiVo service and watch them at your leisure.

*Nod*. We have TiVo. What TiVo allows you to do is collect them when you can't watch them. This doesn't help if you have two hours of watching time and seven shows to watch.

Trickier problem. :) You could hire some high-school student to watch them for you and write synopses, solving your problem and easing unemployment at the same time.
