I have run out of enthusiasm and energy.

There are so many projects I should be working on. I should be prettying things up for presentation at May Day, and doing preliminary reconstruction on my project for the Laurel Prize Tourney. I should be crocheting afghans for the friends I have promised them to. I should be working on figuring out details of investing money to buy a house. I should be filling out my quarterly spreadsheet for work, and getting summer schedule details worked out.

Instead, I have just enough energy to sit here with my eyes slowly glazing over like stale donut holes. What I want, more than anything, is to climb into someone's lap, curl up like a very small animal, and have them sing me to sleep.

This is not on the approved project list.

In other news, it seems likely that I'm going to have to cancel my surgery - the agent I work through for my relief work hasn't been able to find alternate coverage for my shifts next week. Unfortunately, if this happens, it looks like I'll have a choice between skipping Hawaii, skipping Pennsic, or postponing surgery until September.

I knew things were going too well.

I don't think that's the way to play it. I think you say to the agent, "I'm really sorry you can't find coverage, but this isn't an elective surgery we're talking about. I'll be taking that time off." Be polite, but firm. It's not like this is a vacation -- and the sooner you have the surgery, the better.

That's a lot smarter than the suggestion I was going to make -- not that you asked for advice -- namely, September is too long to wait, and Hawaii is a somewhat once-in-a-lifetime experience (plus work-related), so you might have to accept skipping Pennsic this year.

Sacrilege! Heresy! Treason!

(I really want her and [livejournal.com profile] umbran to go to Pennsic with us again ;-) )

Yeah, which is why you had such a smarter suggestion than I did. :)

No... don't you go... won't you stay with me one more day... if we get through one more night... if we get through one more night...

I know very few lullabies.

You're in my prayers... and if I were closer, I'd offer my lap, an official "very small animal" card and a recording of someone else singing softly.

Cancelling the surgery strikes me as the least wise course of action. Last I heard, you're not one of those massively-overpaid professional athletes whose rabid fanbase demands that they "play through the pain" - at least until the off-season. I could easily agree with cancelling a purely elective surgery under these conditions - but, from what you've written elsewhere, what you're getting ain't elective.

That being said, my knees aren't the ones under discussion, and I'm not the one who gets to make the decisions about yours.

What I want, more than anything, is to climb into someone's lap, curl up like a very small animal, and have them sing me to sleep.
Hush, little Becky; don't say a word;
Momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird ...

I'd be delighted to sing you to sleep, but you probably don't need my lullaby at the moment.

*hugs*

You are not meant to be a one-woman font of perpetual energy, sometimes you need someone to sing you to sleep and provide lap.

I find that [livejournal.com profile] spiritdance has an excellent sort of lap for this. While I do not have her magic, I offer my own humble lap and voice for your nesting needs when I am in range again. ;)

*hugs*

P.S. I'm on the bandwagon, look after your knees, please. I like watching you dance easily.
