Oh, yeah. It's '24 hours before game-start; panic and self-doubt o'clock.' Time for me to sit in front of an open and half-empty suitcase with a handful of costume pieces and a stomach full of insecurity, and tell my husband that maybe I'd really rather stay home and spend the weekend downloading episodes of America's Next Top Model from BitTorrent and eating peanut butter straight from the jar while he runs off to play and have fun.
Time for me to watch everyone else getting excited and plotting together, and worry that maybe they really wish that this time I *would* stay home, rather than try to nudge and force my way into their plots.
I am too old for this kind of wembly, histrionic behavior, and my friends really deserve more from me than that kind of suspicion and doubt.
Oh, well. Times change. Now, I guess, it's time for me to finish packing, and lay out my clothes for tomorrow - my new Order of the Stick long-sleeved babydoll T-shirt, and 'damn, they make me look good' black velvet hip-hugger jeans. If I can't be a hot, sassy uber-confident gamer chick, at least I can dress the part.

Date: 2006-10-17 02:07 pm (UTC)Short story: I vividly remember hanging in the main game space of Drink Deeper and noticing an amazing woman walk through the door, flamked by two gentlemen. Her deportment, her attitude, her costume...jaw dropping, "woah" moment for me it was. I remember thinking, "I wanna game with *her*." Her, of course, being you.
Not saying my opinion is the be all or anything, but you do bring a lot of richness and depth of story to the Brassy's world, and we are glad to have you in it. (So there, take that, and all that jazz.) Hope you had fun...
