I'm usually not one to ask for good thoughts, prayers, or wishes. I believe in them, and their power, but I tend to prefer to do something, even something obscure or useless, than ask other people for intangible help.

On the other hand, I don't think I've ever encountered something before that I wanted this much, and at the same time had absolutely no ability to affect the outcome myself at all.

You see, there's this house my sweetie and I have had our eyes on for a while. But by the time we were able to actually get our ducks in a row to make an offer on it, someone else had beaten us to it. We made a backup offer, but were told that this was mostly just so that we could feel, in our heart of hearts, that we had tried - the odds of actually getting the house were virtually nil.

Except.... it seems that things aren't going too smoothly with the current offer. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but apparently we're not out of the running yet.

So - I won't ask for anyone to hope bad things for the current offer-ers. I believe in karma way too much for that. But if y'all could spare a thought or a hope that maybe the current offer falls through because there's something even better and more splendid and perfect for them waiting in the next town over or the next house they visit, and that my sweetie and I get our offer accepted, I'd be endlessly grateful. I'd even invite you over for cookies and games in the shiny new home.....

GoodThoughts that they realize, for whatever reason, the place is Just Not Right for them, and therefore it's yours :)

(if I'm ever in Boston, I'll take you up on that offer...)

I offer good thoughts for the best possible outcome for all concerned.

I hope that the folks with the offer find their dream house elsewhere and pull out of this deal with no pain or penalties.

I will hope for you what happened for us. (: Our seller decided that she liked [livejournal.com profile] meiczyslaw and me better than the folks who put in the higher offer, and she also realized that we would stay in the house a while, whereas the other folks were likely to move quickly.

Best of luck, and I hope your seller realizes that you two really do want the house.

Sounds like a good prayer. I'll also add a prayer that if you don't get it, you understand why in such a way that you're happy (or at least at peace) with the outcome.

Good luck on the whole house thing :-)

And wish me luck in getting this place decluttered enough to get it on the market, so we can get more serious about finding a place in IA.

Before I wish you "Good luck!" Do you know why the other bidders might not get the house? Are they having a problem with getting a mortgage or setting a closing date? Did they do a home inspection and there were problems? If it was the latter case, a seller doesn't have to volunteer information about problems (except for a few things mandated by law), but if you ask if they have a problem with X, they have to respond truthfully.

House buying and selling is just this huge roller coaster. We're currently still trying to sell ours (having moved out) and are very carefully not looking at the next one until this one sells.

Good positive-karmic vibrations coming your way.

(We might have to pass on the cookies tho, being an ocean away. Damn it's been a long time)
